Hello!

I just bought a 2000 SL2 with 155k on it. I didn't spend too much on it, I am hoping (actually desperately hoping) It lasts me a year until I can buy a new one. Bought from a mechanic...engine has 134K on it. Took it in for a tune up and the guy said it needed nothing. Well, the next week, the engine light went on. Took her in and just got her back. I took it to a very reputable shop here in town, they read the codes and told me it was the crankshaft sensor...but after they took it out they saw that it was actually the coils and the spark plugs causing the code so since they fixed that. I have to say, she runs much quieter and idles normally now. But I just can't get over feeling like it's going to drop dead on the highway. I'm actually frightened. The spedometer is off by 10 miles, but the VSS has been replaced. At 55 mph, at highway speeds it just feels kind of sluggish, like it wants to shift, but doesn't. But it does appear to shift normal judging by the tachometer. If I let my foot off the gas even a little, it slows down rapidly.

I'm not expecting a race car, just something to last me a year. But for you Saturn drivers, is this normal? Do Saturns feel sluggish by nature? I've only driven a stick shift 89 jeep Comanche and brand new rental cars so I have no point of reference.

Is this normal for a Saturn? Is there just a different feel for them? I have owned it for a week and already put 400.00 into it. More than willing to pay to fix her up if it actually gets fixed!

DOHCs are peppier than SOHCs but hey it only has 124 HP so it's not gonna have any kind of race-like action going on.

don't understand how a CPS (crank) related code could suddenly be reinterpreted as being caused by something else. My guess is they got a camshaft position sensor code and mistook it for a crank code, then looked for the cam sensor, which does not exist on an s car, then they got on the internet to figure out how to diag the cam code.

I don't see anything in your description to make me think your ride's gonna give out on you....
