Post DRL and Horn Inoperative

So I picked my 02 SC1 Coupe up for $600 and the girl I bought it from swore there were only 2 small issues, one being the front bearing the other being tires. Well she's fulla poopie.

My day time running lights don't work at all but my right highbeam works. I replaced the headlights hoping that it was simply a disruption in the circuit but no such luck. I also tried replacing all the fuses for the DRLs and the Horn but that didn't fix the problems either.

I have a 2001 parts car so parts aren't really an issue. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before or may know what the possible problem is... all suggestions are welcome! (besides the ones i've tried already )

So your DRL's or low beam lights do not work at all?

I'm not familiar with the DRL setup since it's not a law here, but sounds like it could be a faulty module. I don't know where it would be located, but figure someone here that knows them could tell you.

All Saturns came with DRL's .... daytime running lights. They run with less voltage then the low beam headlights. Guess they could have been disconnected as some people didn't like them for what ever reason. Disabling the DRL's did not in turn disable the low beam headlights so I'd guess maybe the headlight relay is bad. Check relays under the hood as well as all fuses including those under the dash on the passenger side. That being said I never had a headlight problem with any of the 10 S-cars I had so I never had to track anything down to fix them.

EDIT: Another area that may be a problem is the underhood fuse box. Remove what ever is in the way such as the airbox etc. Remove the screws and flip over the box and look for anything thats been over heated or burnt. now see if you can repair it.

Check both the IGN1 and the IGN3 fuse in the instrument panel fuse block. They are both 10amp fuses

So you're saying my 95SC1 should have DRL's? Any idea as to what I could check to get mine working? I'm more familiar with Mopars, and I know that on the ones that had DRL setup, it was under the driver side fender. It's a module. My headlights work just fine on both low and high beam, but I don't have DRL's. I won't be able to check it out for a few days, it's pouring rain here and is supposed to for the next 2 days. And I have to go to Nashville tomorrow for an epidural steroid injection in my low back. They won't want me doing anything for a few days after that. Something to do with spinal fluid seepage.

Hey Rube .............. I may not have that 100% correct. It may be that starting in 1995 all Saturns had DRL's .... Canada had them a few years before the US when we went with the lower output version of the system. You should have a DRL relay in the underhood fuse/relay box.

my 95 SC2 does not have them, but my 97 SC2 does.
97 was the first year for the 2nd gen coupe so I'm guessing they came in 97

I'll say DERF is correct ......... We had 10 S-cars from 92-02 and can't remember when the DRL's came into the mix. I do remember the reason I got rid of of 1993 SW2 the next year was because I HATED those damn power seat belts. Same reason my wife traded in her 1993 SL2. I got the 94 Homecoming SL2 with a 5 speed she got a 94 SL2 auto with sunroof.

Thanks for the tip I can try that out since I didn't think to check those.
