bad diode in alternator
Helllo!I have a 07 saturn vue with the 3.5 honda.I suspect I have a failed diode in my alternator.makes 13.6-14.1 volts chargeing. When parked over night i end up with dead or drained battery.alternator replacement around here is $500 plus.I have read about what a pain replacement is.(i am 73)so for the time being I have put a kill switch between the lead from the alternator and battery which works fine as long as i remember to shut the switch off at night.so i am looking at remote mounted diodes, which seems like a good move.so one of my first questions is the arror on diods point toward the battery or alternator.I am not in a position to pay $500-$77 to replace it............thanks in advance
I responded to your other post on the same topic.
Please do not double post. It is confusing and makes things impossible to follow.
Please note that I responded to your other post before I saw this one, so your financial limitations we're not considered in that response.
I find it strange that in one post you say you suspect a bad alternator diode but in the other post you state that it IS a bad alternator diode.
Very difficult to help you when you supply conflicting information.
