Default Stock Swap

Hey guys, i got a 99 Sc1, my stock cd player just went on the fritz. I was gonna go to the wrecker and get a used one from the same year but then it struck me...maybe i could put one from a newer year in???...maybe one that plays mp3's and such...would the wiring be the same? And i guess would a newer one fit? i know i really should just buy a new aftermarket but thought this would be a little different.

If you utilize a low-end Saturn unit to replace a low-end (budget) Saturn unit, the connections should be identical. If you got a high-end unit and replacing with a high end unit, that should be OK too. Your problems will come in if you go low to high, or high to low, or after market. In those cases, you'll need to buy/make an adapter cable. Good luck
