Ok, thanks again to derf and everyone for all the awesome info...what I have is a complete 2001 engine with everything...wiring, ecu..everything. So I am waiting to get my ducks a row before I tackle this swap. I found info that the 96 intake would bolt to the 2001. And I found info that they are different. If I can bolt the intake I think it would be a relatively easy swap. I don't see an air pump on the 2001. Am I missing something? I am pretty sure I can make the 96 intake fit even if I have to make my own intake flange and weld it up. Hope it doesn't come to that. I am hoping just to use the 2001 or 96 without mod. And not to get off the subject but I have a pair of stainless steel dog bone motor mounts. I could easily fab more up but I like the idea of making them out of a piece of billet and so the after market "stock replacement poly bushing" will fit in them. The SS ones way easier to make but the billet would be way cooler I think.

 

 

Oh, the 2001 intake is that plastic POS, yes?

If you can get the 96 intake on there, you can use the 96 throttle body, the throttle cable should line up. Don't know about intake bolt patterns....
The air pump is this puny little electric motor that blows fresh air into the exhaust manifold for the first 100 sec or so after a cold start. I believe there is a metal tube coming from the pass side in front of the engine when viewed from front bumper that runs into the exhaust manifold.
