Default VTI fluid Question

New guy here with a question. Looked back 5yrs and did not see anything in the thread about this. Sorry if there was one and I missed it. I have a 03 2.2 AWD VTI. Trans has been shuttering when first taking off. I understand these are a problem child now 2 years after buying it to keep miles off my truck for the work commute. My plan was to change the fluid, following the procedures I have found online with the drain tube and using a reader to know temp. What I was wondering was can I used the aftermarket fluids made for CVT vehicles without adding any other modifiers? I have found the valvoline fluid at a local store. Thanks for any help you guys may have.

--NO--

Unless you want it to die sooner than later. Either it's gonna die, but why rush it.

Thanks for responding. Can I use the valvoline cvt with the gm additive #15231847? Shipping on a syringe is much cheaper than a syringe and 2 gallons of oem.

I doubt his answer will be any different than the first.

Have you consulted a GM dealer parts department?
