Default Engine Dying.

Hello there, I’ve had a problem with my 2006 Vue for awhile now. When I go to start the Vue for the first time, I can drive it anywhere for any amount of time. But if I turn off the ignition, then come back any time soon and start it again, the engine fades out and the vehicle rumbles hard. It might drive for a bit the second time. But if I turn it off and on a third time, it will start up and then die. Fourth time turning it on it dies again. But here’s the kicker, if I let it sit for 6-8 hours, it works again for that first time. But then on repeat, second time it fades out and rumbles, third time it dies, and so on. It seems to drive just fine it I let it sit for 8 hours between each drive. I’ve replaced the battery, starter, spark plugs, plug coils, alternator, and still no fix. I can’t figure out what it could be, any ideas?

First idea is to stop throwing parts at it.

Is the Service Engine Soon light on or the security light on solid ?if SES is on, go to AutoZone or similar and get codes read for free.

Please post the actual Pxxxx code, not what the AZ person says the code means. The X's above are 4 numbers.

Please provide more information about your Vue. Is it a 4 cylinder or a six cylinder engine? The 4 cylinder versions have GM produced engines and transmissions and the 6 cylinder versions have Honda powertrain. Please provide approximate mileage on the vehicle also.
Thanks
Andy

The engine light is on. The code came back P0700 - transmission control system performance.

Its a 2006 4 cylinder. 162,000 miles.

I would replace the fuel filter and see how it runs.

Why does it always run fine if I don’t drive it for a 6-8 hours? I can drive anywhere as long as I don’t turn it off and back on again. The moment I do that it begins fading and rumbling really hard. I notice when I use the window button the engine kinda fades a bit until I let go. I assumed it was electrical, the fuel system was gonna be my next guess, which then side question: do you access the fuel tank from under the driver seat?

You stated that you replaced every electrical component but nothing fuel related. The electric window load on my alternator changes the way my 2.2L sounds also. I cannot explain why your car runs the way it does without seeing it but I am willing to help you.
