I just got a 2007 Vue - Base V6 3.5 that has a P0498 code. I had the front struts replaced and while up on the lift they showed me the issue as the canister had a small hole in from hitting something on the road. They temporarily plugged the hole - I think welded or melted the hole shut - as you can see where the silver is.
I have the new canister and evap valve to simply switch out. You can see the previous owner has put zip ties on for some reason. Does anyone know what and how this flexible grey hose and plastic square (see pic) affixes to the canister itself?? What should hold this instead of zip ties??
Any insight will greatly help. I am going to try to switch it out tomorrow.
From the diagram in the Charm service manual (see link below), it looks like there are two square shaped clips that hold the cover onto the canister. The one below the lower white arrow appears to be broken, hence the zip ties.
