Default 203 Vue- repairs?

I have a 2003 vue - V6 awd model. Car has been great - I am 3rd owner.I wish to know if as suggested by my Mechanic- I need to have the valves adjusted? There is no noise , tapping or any mis-fire or codes. He suggested this be done -as I am having valve cover gaskets replaced along with thermostat & housing and spark plugs . Just a curious question. Thanx

If it is the Honda V6, apparently the owner's manual (at least in 04) states that the valves should be checked at 105K mi, and that audible noise is NOT necessarily an indication that the clearances are within spec.

No idea how many miles on your Vue, but if you'tr owner # 3 I'll bet on >105K.

I would have it done if it were mine---but it is not mine

Sounds like good advice if you're near that mileage mark. If not, why pay extra for something that isn't wrong with it?

my advice was based on some brief googling which revealed this is a known issue on the Honda V6's of that era (99-04), leading to premature engine wear. Your mechanic may have suggested it thinking it WAS a Hondda V6. Double check with him if he thinks it is still relevant -- and before you even do that, check the owner's manual
