Hello Derf!
1)Do you happen to know the exact dimensions of the glass hatch. And I suspect that is not the native window.
2) You do not know whether there are cars like you and me, only in the configuration without air conditioning? I want it all off and put a short strap that would not cool the compressor in vain.

1) By glass hatch, do you mean sunroof = window in top of car?
2) I think A/C was an option on the SL1 SOHC, but standard equipment on the SL2 and SC2 (can't remember). People modifying for performance would take off the Power steering pump and the A/C compressor -- there's a belt for that because this was the configuration of the base model SL. But A/C delete only? Don't know.
But everything is out there on the internet........

The correct way to convert a 2 wheel disc/2 wheel drum vehicle is to a 4 wheel disc brake vehicle is to remove the drum related hardware and replace it with the REAR disc brakes from a donor SL2, SW2, or SC2.
Trying to put front brakes on the rear is not a good idea. The braking behavior would be strange, the rotor sizes and pad sizes are different, the caliper size is different.
Many people have done the drum to disc rear conversion. Let me go find a few links and I will post them for you.
And please, when you are posting questions , please say "hello" to the entire forum---not just me....many others are happy to help!

Also, the front rotors are vented, the rear are solid.
As you read these, pay special attention to Posts by Low Saturn and Wolfman. They know what they are talking about.
Also, the emergency cable length is different for rear drums vs rear discs, so you will have to sort out which ones from which years you can use on your car.
