I am looking at a used SL2 for my daughter. It has 133k miles on it. It drives pretty good and is very clean. Has this been a reliable vehicle? I need to know if there are any nagging problems to look out for. I ran a CarFax report and it came back clean.

Year? Auto/5 Spd? (Give us a chance to help you!)

Oil consumption is somewhat inevitable on the S cars....keep the oil up and they keep running.

sounds like a pretty solid car. The couple of nagging problems that ive had with it is of course the oil consumption (which you can have with any car) and then there is the coolant sensors which always seem to give issues. But that is a cheap and easy fix.

As far as reliable. I have not had a more reliable car. And if mine ever breaks i know its gonna be another one that will be my next daily driver. In the 2 years ive had mine ive only once had to bring it in for service and i have 190k miles on my car.

Check for reverse slam and/or slamming forward gears. Before buying the car, let it get all the way to operating temperature and ask to take it for a 10 mile ride. The put it in reverse and see if it slams into gear.

I bought a 97 SL1 with 109,000 miles and it is still running fine at 231,000 miles. Two things to be aware of: 1) It will burn and leak oil, so it is imperative to keep oil in it. Check it every second or third time you get gas. In spite of the oil usage, the engine will run fine 2) Check the serpentine belt and get it changed for $60(installed).
I still get 35 mpg and the body looks great!!
Good luck.
