I'd start with a fluid and filter change. If not, it may be time to replace the valve body. I just did this to mine and it's like a totally different transmission now.

I found mine on ebay for $110. I have posted 2 links for you to watch. Keep in mind that if you have ABS brakes, you'll have to take the master cylinder loose from the power brake booster in order to get enough clearance to get the pan off. And the pan has a gasket that's a dealer item only. It cost me around $21.00 with tax. Have fun. Watch these videos in order. It will take about a half hour to watch them both, but, it's worth the time. You will also need an inch pound torque wrench.

You might try taking it to a transmission shop first and asking them to check the CVI (clutch volume index) and make sure they're in parameter. If so, you might go ahead and replace the valve body and gasket. BUT, if you're not mechanically inclined, I'd suggest you have someone do it for you. Same goes for a conversion. I'm sure you'd need various sensors and wiring harnesses off the donor car too. And you'll have to get the clutch pedal set up too. That's minimal stuff. Do a search here and you'll probably find where someone has done a conversion.

Too bad the videos are on a non ABS car, Mike. That adds a challenge to the task. If not for the ABS pump, etc. it would have been a hell of a lot easier for me. I could probably do one on a non ABS car in a couple of hours now!
