Stalled out
Good afternoon SL1 owners.
I stalled my 2000 SL1 with close to 300,000 miles o it recently. I turned the key to the on position and the instrument panel lights came on as normal, but then they flashed off for a second then came back on. When I go to start the car it just turns over but won't start. Oh and I don't think I heard the fuel pump whir when the key was turned on. What happened?

I stalled my 2000 SL1 in Ralph's parking lot recently so I went to turn the key on and didn't here the fuel pump pressure up ,but I noticed the instrument panel lights flashed off then back on . I went to start the car and it just turned over but wouldn't start. My is getting close to 300,000 miles and was running strong. What happened?
Get a can of starter fluid and spray about a 3 second shot in the throttle body and then see if it starts. If so, you have a fuel related problem. If not, then it sound electrical to me. Then you have to check for spark. With that many miles on it, it wouldn't be a surprise if the fuel pump died.
What is the status of the security light while you are cranking the vehicle? It should look like a lock icon on the dashboard I do believe. This is first guess. If security is triggered, the fuel pump should still prime, but the injectors are inhibited so no fuel gets to the cylinders. The cranking without starting is the signature outcome of security being triggered.
Was there any electrical strangeness that happened during the installing episode? Also, what is the charge on the battery at rest and while cranking?
