I have a 98 SL2 automatic with 77,xxx miles on it. The transmission just started acting up. There is no 1st gear. The engine starts in 2nd and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd there is a hard shift. (Mostly just the 1st time).

Codes that were pulled are P0732, P0733, P0783. I have checked the soleniod on the transmission without removing the cover (saw how to do that on Youtube) and got 5.8 ohms for all the valves. I changed the transmission fluid and filter, but the fluid that came out was ruby red and that didn't fix the problem.

The transmission store wants 1614 to rebuild the transmission. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Not sure where you're located, but $1600 seems a little high for a rebuild on the tranny ...
