Default S-series locks & security going nuts

My '98 SW2 door locks & security has gone crazy. Doors will lock & unlock and horn beeps while driving or when trying to lock/unlock the car. Disconnecting the battery temporarily brings sanity. How do I disable the auto locks and security? Is there a fuse I can remove? Tx,

Mike

I've had that happen when other things in my pocket started jabbing the fob buttons. Sounds stupid but was the problem

try taking apart the remote fob and cleaning the places on the circuit board that have the metal traces in parallel with an eraser. Corrosion can build up and greatly reduce or even remove the need to push on the buttons.

Those circuits work by flexing the contact just a little bit on the actual board itself. If you have enough corrosion built up, it may actually be acting as though buttons are already pushed like the panic button which would set off the light and horns even while driving. That's about the only thing I know that will and still let the car run.

Did your fob go through the washing machine? Recent hurricane?

I don't know if your car has a Body Control Module (BCM) but that's sure what it sounds like to me. Keep in mind though, that I'm NOT A MECHANIC.

Thanks Derf. A few months ago my fob was working very poorly so I cleaned it and restored the pads with a product specifically made for
the purpose, and I have successfully used the product on many remotes for TV's etc. I have a spare fob and will bind it to the car and see
if that works.

Derf, I cleaned up fob #2 and bound it to the car using the synchronization procedure and it seems to be working for now. I'll let you know how things go!
