Default Problems after changing Battery

Last Sunday afternoon went out to start the car and it did not turn over..no lights no radio nothing.(It worked fine earlier in the day) Tried to boost it...Nothing. New battery needed. Bought new battery and replaced it. Car now turns over lights work etc including the word Security flashing on the dash. ( I am not sure if it did this before, never noticed it) It seems like the car starts but will not run. It appears to be getting gas because I can smell it after the numerous times trying to make it go. Contacted the dealer and just about everyone else I know with a clue and the thought seemed to be security system some run blocker or something. I have tried about 3 different techniques to "reset the security" (turn on, back of to on position, wait ten min, repeat 3x) and short of standing on my head and twisting am at a loss. the nearest Saturn Dealer is over and hour away and a very expensive tow. Any ideas????

Ok here we go..think the security reset was something like this ..turn car on..let it try to catch once..then key back to on position leave there for 10min(dash lights should be on at this pooint) repeat turn key catch once..back to on position..wait ten min..repeat 1x more..at the end of the last 30 min rest period turn key off then try to start car again....Note with this proceedure..I tried it and it did not work...however after paying $50 to tow car to my garage, they used this method and it did work...go figure.

Humpf -- I guess you had to tow the vehicle some unspecified distance before the above-mentioned procedure would work. Anyhow, glad you are back on the road ....
