I hope some one can help me. I have a 1994 Saturn SL1 1.9 it has
141k miles and now it started making noises. I believe a rod is about
to go. I am thinking about swaping engines I want to know can it
wve done it a couple of days, I have swaped engines in older cars
before or is the car not worth putting another engine in. please let me
know.

If the car is fiberglass... i feel the car is worth it. it wont rust and there lighter. I was thinking of swapping my SOHC witha DOHC but dont know if that can be done.

Need to do more research

The car is not fiberglass, and only you the owner knows if it's worth putting an engine in it.

Saturn bodies arean injection moulded thermo-plastic.

A first timer should be able to swap a Saturn engine in a weekend, I can do it in about three hours.

As for a SOHC to DOHC swap, yes, that can be done. Many have done it including myself.

We have complete instructions on how to do it on our site:
http://www.differentracing.com/tech_...dohc_swap.html

Our instruction document on how to do it on 1991-1994 S-Series, 1995+ are actually easier and require less parts.

Here is the car we did it on:
