not knowing, I ran plat. plugs in my ''96 SL2 with cruise(standard trans.)for a couple hundred miles. could that be causing it to miss due to some ignition component damage? I changed O2 front and back,crank sensor, had the TPS checked and OK''d, cleaned and had checked the EGR, changed the CTS and plug, cleaned the air pressure sensor with the proper cleaner, new wires(Duralast)and AC Delco plugs (.40gap), cleaned the bottom of the ignition module and mounting surface with a wire brush and applied di-electric grease to it. I get a good spark between the towers. I cleaned the throttle plate and inside the body. I changed the cat. converter(the old one was completely hollow) It runs fine until it gets warmed up and then misses when I accelerate and shift gears. I thought it was the computer so I got a different computer from a recycler and it works great but no cruise control. orig computer no. 21023008 replacement computer no. 21023773.
Now, another recycler let me remove the computer from a ''96 standard trans.,cruise, SL2 this am and let me plug it into my vehicle to try it. The number on the computer matched the orig. It does the same thing as the orig.! And the cruise control worked fine except for that darn miss. I posted this before but not to this extent. Any help, or thoughts? Add''l. info needed? Let me know, and thanks for reading all this. Oh, I also keep getting a "running rich in bank 1" code(I forget the number) that goes off on it''s own and then comes back on periodically.

Is your mileage kinda lousy, and does the exhaust smell badly of gas fumes once the engine warms up ???

 

sorry my internet was down a few days. No I am getting consistently 30mpg. high 32 low 29.And I really don''t smell gas once the engine has warmed up.

 

Oh I forgot, I also replaced the fuel filter
