Hi, I just got a 1995 Sl2 with the 5 speed manual transaxle.

Well, at least so I thought, lol

Remember the song, first gear, It''s all right,

second gear...

When I go for fifth gear, all I get is air.

No sound, no clash, just another neutral!

I removed the shift mechanism off the top of the transmission and inspected,

but with some normal looking wear, It all looks in adjustment and so on.

Next weekend I''ll take of the cover from the end through the wheel well

and have a look from there, as I see the gear is under the cover in the service

manual. I wonder if the previous owner put it back together with no gear in it.

Anyone ever see this "no 5th gear" problem before?

It will go into reverse just fine.
