Loud Deep Rumble inside car
#1
We bought my daughter''s 1999 Saturn 4-door coupe last year with 20K miles on it. It now has about 35K on it and runs perfectly with no issues or problems. But the car has always sounded VERY loud inside when the engine is running. It''s a very low rumbling kind of tone and very hard to talk when inside the car running. It''s not a bad sounds, it''s just like the engine is inside the car with you. I don''t remember if it is an SC1 or an SL1, but it''s the real basic 4 cylinder model with automatic trans.
Anybody heard of this and any ideas for how to insulate or quiet it down ?

Open the hood, have her hold the brake, move the trans from forward to reverse, watch the top engine mount move back and forth. Look for rotting, ripped, torn, seperated rubber. Look for the rubber to be seperated from the steel strap. If you can place a number 2 pencil between the top of the rubber and the steel strap or any of the above, replace the top engine mount. Hell just replace the top engine mount, it''s time.
