Well, at least not right away. It seems to take 5 or 6 times of turning the
stupid key in the lock, frequently with inserting/reinserting the key, before
it finally opens. This is on both the passenger & driver side.
If it makes a difference, this is on a 1997 SL2.

I''m certain that someone will suggest ''just'' going over to keyless, but I''d
rather go w/ the cheapest solution possible.

If anyone has solved this problem, can you please tell me how, and the cost
if I pay someone competent to do it? I am NOT capable of doing it myself. I
know, I know, FOR YOU, it''s incredibly easy, but I''m not you.Edited by: 97_SL2

just worn out probably the keys. Get a lock smith involved. They can
remaster you a set of working keys.

Or dealer can cut new key based on the VIN of the vehicle

Tried that this afternoon. Somewhat surprised at the $10.95 price, but hey,
it worked- a lot better than what they had feared, i.e., having to replace the
locks.

Thanks again!
