1994 sl1...the horn does not work. i have checked both the relay and the 10amp fuse..plus i pulled and tested the horn itself...all are fine...scared to pull the steering wheel to check wiring because of the air bag...anyone have a suggestion?

my steering wheel button went out on the left side and i have to press it really hard on the right for it to work. so im willing to bet its the switch in the wheel. thats what it was for me.

The horn itself is probably dead. It happens. And pulling the airbag off is not big deal. I''ve done it many times. Just remove the bolt covers, remove the two 8mm bolts, slide out the airbag then unplug it.

Its extremely difficult to accidently depoly the airbag.

Mike...thanks for the info on the airbag..that was my biggest fear was deploying it..not much experience with steering wheels with airbags...i have tested the actual horn unit, and it works, so with your info and others, i think i will try replacing or testing the switches in the steering wheel...will keep you guys posted...thanks again

While I agree the contact switch is the most likely culprit, a few decades ago, I sold a car to a young fella. He took it for a test drive, came back and asked, "Did you know your horn doesn''t work?"

I''d never used it, so I had no idea. Checked to see what fuse it was, other bits on the same fuse worked fine. Opened the hood, followed the wire from the horn back... and somewhere along the line, someone had cut the wire.
