I seem to have a have a hard-to-diagnose electrical problem with my SW2. I was getting a Code 26 -- Quad-Driver module or Quad-driver No. 1 error. My mechanic determined that this meant that the computer needed to be replaced which he did. The new unit reported a code 32 -- EGR valve diagnostic switch. As I've encountered this before, I simply replaced the EGR valve.

Then the Code 26 appeared again so I went back to the mechanic who decided that the new computer must be faulty and replaced it. But now both the Code 26 and Code 32 appear so the problem is obviously not with either of the parts that have been replaced. I'm writing here because I hope to have some idea of what's wrong before going back to the mechanic. Any ideas?

You probably have some type of sensor that is dirty or getting a wrong signal that is one answer maybe or a faulty wire not connecting something is my bet. Or your getting ripped on your computer everytime man jk but yeah those are my guesses i had a fried not with a saturn but he had those problems and i fixed it for him.

You said you fixed such a problem. Can you tell me how your troubleshooting worked? I've done a lot of part replacements but have no experience with that kind of diagnostic work. Thanks for the help.

As odd as this sounds check your main ground in th rear and your other grounds. A bad ground I found on Saturns due to nature of their plastic body can cause problems. Good Luck

The problem has been solved! It was due to a faulty EGR solenoid. Thanks again for all of the input.

For those who might be getting a code 26 failure in the future. The last thing on the long list of what it could be, is a bad PCM. If you have a mechanic that wants to replace the PCM on a code 26, find a new mechanic. The 26 code "quad- driver failure" isn't quite accurate. 26 means that the quad-drivers aren't returning the appropriate signals back to the eprom. Example; eprom signals the quad-driver to open EGR valve. EGR valveis screwed upand is grounding out the quad-driver voltage, which the eprom thinks the driver has failed. 90% of the time it's not the driver, but the unit that the driver is running. All the the solenoids, relays, and sensors are run by the quad-drivers in the PCM. Which meansall that a 26 code tells you is, "something is wrong" and that's about it.Edited by: stevestar99
