Does this pump run continuously? Or just when you start the car? I disconnected the hose from the pump, started the car, and it was blowing air but then stopped again. Any guidance would be appreciated. This is a 99 SL2 by the way,

 

The computer controls it to aid in oxygen sensor and cat warmup so the car can get into closed loop sooner.
