At no point would ever take the car to the dealer to have the clutch replaced. It'll be really expensive. Unless the car was previously owned by a 16 year old girl learning to drive a manual, the clutch should only be halfway through its life. I did a clutch replacement while doing a few other things on a friends car a few months ago. It was a 1998 SL1 with 300,000 miles on it. The clutch disc looked like it could of gone another 100,000 miles.
