Clutch question
What can I expect to pay to have a clutch installed in my 99? It doesn't slip yet but it is chattering. Maybe the bearing is going. With 175k on it I might as well get it replaced.
I'm sure it would all depend on where you go, man. Shop around if you're not going to do it yourself. And if you pay someone else to do it, tell them you want the old parts. That way you can inspect them and make sure they actually did what you paid for.
Well with finances being what they are, or actually what they are not, I have decided to give it a go myself. I have an engine hoist and a lot of tools, just not a lot of money. So when I get a good weekend I'm going to start. Is it important to get an OEM clutch? Or can I shop prices?
If you mean by your question should you find some one that sells Saturn Parts or should you use the local CarQuest or NAPA store personally I use the CarQuest Store.
My second choice would be NAPA my next one O'Rileys or Autozone my last choice, Freds discount outparts and screen door repairs. So finding a Saturn dealer is some where above Fred's place.
There are a few parts that seem to indicate that finding a GM dealer that will sell Saturn Parts is a best deal due to the part itself being aftermarket poor. There is always something like that as a problem.
I actually am surprised at the number of parts that are still available from GM and there is no place else that actually has them. But clutches are not one of them.
As to the life of clutches?
I have put 4 of them in my 1970 Muscle Car that just turned 100,000 miles while my Mitsubishi went 270,000 miles and I sold it still functioning.
