Default Ambiguous cylinder head bolt torquing instructions

I'm confused because the online manual says one thing while tutorials I've seen say another. This is on a 2002 SL2 DOHC LL0 engine, for the record.

In video tutorials, I see 37 ft lbs + 90 degrees as final torque spec. Documents and other online references say finger tight, 22 ft lbs, 33 ft lbs + 90 degrees.

But the online manual has that last line there that says another 90 degrees is the final step for a total of 180 degrees beyond 33 ft lbs. I searched far and wide and couldn't see any reference to this. If I used the wrong search terms and it's been covered elsewhere on the forum, I apologize. It would be nice to get a definitive answer whether the process really is: Finger tight, 22 ft lb, 33 ft lb, +90 deg, +90 deg.

Thanks in advance.

I would follow the online manual instructions. These are reprints of factory manual pages. Use new head bolts and lubricate the threads lightly with engine oil.

I see what you mean about ambigious since it states to do the first +90 degree before it mentions installing the degree tool. I'm pretty sure the procedure I've used only involved only a single 90 degree turn during torquing as the final sequence.
