Hi i just took a 98 SL2 for a test drive and im considering buying it. Im bringing it toa mechanic tomorrow to get it checked out. It has one owner, no accidents, no failed emissions, and no strange sounds coming from the engine. What I want to know is: is he giving me a fair price ($3500)? Are there any inherent issues i need to know about this model?

I''m 17 and ive worked for years to get a car, so cant aford to get ripped off. Your help is truly appreciated.

Considering I recently bought a two 2001 SC2''s, one for $1700 and the other for $1300, a 1996 SC2 a year ago for $500 and sold a 1998 SL2 for $1500. No. $3500 is not a good deal.

its automatic. i remember the first thing my mechanic said as it was pulling into the shop is that its clean as hell. it will need new front pads and a couple of minor things replaced, but otherwise i think its in very good shape for a 10 year old car.

mj114679,

The guy above you is not stuck up he''s realistic. It''s overpriced.

Alex,

Negotiate him down to something reasonable or save your money and move on.

There are others out there.

Then obviously you dont know anything about Saturns. Because $3500 is way over priced. And I''ve owned 20+ Saturns, so I must know 10 times what you do about them.

we got mine for $4,000, I think that''s pretty good for what your going for. And it all depends on where you live, I live in the SF bay area so it was a great deal ( we got it from a dealership, not a private seller)

Good luck!

I too live in the SF Bay area, San Jose in fact. Saturns are really cheap out here. I wouldnt buy one at a dealership though. You can buy two or three Saturn for the price a dealership asks.
