Default 99 SL2,95k, good buy?

I have seen a 99 SL2 for sale... Its one of the homecoming edition cars, auto, power everything, etc... The owner is currently having sensor trouble, and it will only run with the MAP sensor unplugged, new o2 sensor and others... Still runs kinda rich he says...

He plans on changing the map sensor, and if it runs, would $1500 be too bad to pay? I have considered trading my suzuki for it, asking for $2k in boot to bridge the gap in value... Opinions?

It was in the thread title, 95k miles... It needs a fender and mirrors but such purchase would be with those at least partially corrected...

So would such a car be a good buy at around 1500?

Engine trouble, body damage, too many red flags for me at any price. I'd say pass. If you see worn out carpet, brake pedal pad, any interior issues, then run as fast as you can.

Update... I may have no choice but to buy the car, as I killed our SL1... The engine now runs fine, tripping no ses light at all... It only needs a mirror glass on pass side, and there is a chunk out of the front of the drivers side fender... I will see whether it would be cheaper to replace the engine in our SL1, or to buy this sl2...

Offer the seller $1,200 bucks for it. He'll probably leave paper cuts in your hand from snatching the money out of it so fast. I doubt you'll be able to replace an engine that cheaply even if you get a used one and replace all the worn out stuff on it.

The seller is a family friend who bought it non running and having sat a couple years, made it run... He is asking others $2k, but 1500 to me(his break even point).. I may be able to trade him the sl1 and pay him like 750 or a similar amount... He could fix it pretty easily and probably cheaply...

Not running for a couple of years means the timing chain will not have had any lubrication on it for that long. Good luck.
