I recently lost my ability to shift gears in my 97 sl. I changed the slave/master cylinders (the one piece unit), the clutch, the pressure plate, and the throwout bearing. All the cables have been inspected and there are no bends, tears, or broken clips. Can anyone tell me why there is almost an inch play in the throwout bearing before it makes contact with the pressure plate and is this effecting my ability to shift still or could it be something else?
