Sounds like a DOHC swap is the right path for you.....please keep us informed of your progress......
Also, with so many years of wrenching under your belt, I'm sure you'll be able to share your knowledge with the rest of us on non computer controlled stuff....

well, i have factory certifications from BMW and Triumph......motorcycles. i've also built, restore or modified 18 air cooled vw's since i was 17. last one i had was a 65 and did low 10's in the 1/4 on dot legal street slicks and turbo blue 116.it had a dual port motor bored and stroked to a 2500, turbo from a 300zx and a predator carb. i actually built motors for ken fisher for a few years bacn in the early 90's. i am going to do the twin cam swap but for the time being i'm going to get a spare computer and get it re-flashed, pull the cat and put a pipe in it's place. i wont change the exhaust in any other way though, because like i said i HATE driving a noisy car and the forest acres police love me already with both the xs650 chopper and my cb750 race replica bike. i am going to factory 15" steel wheels and i'll podercoat them in a color similar to whatever color i decide to paint the car. i'm going to continue to pull a bike trailer, haul feed and hay and haul a dead deer once or twice a season as well. without a doubt this is the best car i've ever owned, with the exception of the 82 subaru gl with 4wd. i killed a moose with that car though, unfortunately the moose killed the car as well. lol

Oh, and by the way, stay way clear of sh&t "performance chips" for the s-cars. Not a single one is legit, so don't waste your $$. Unfortunately the tuner craze never caught on with the S cars, so the simple performance gains available by tweaking the tuning on these cars just aren't easy to do......

ok, i was able to trade a titled triumph motorcycle frame for an sohc rebuild kit with forged pistons. so the single cam motor is where i'm going with it. is there a cold air intake available for the tbi single cam motors? how about headers? what would a good verrrrry quiet performance muffler be or is there such an animal? i can do any welding that needs to be done. this was the ecu kit i was looking at. ---> http://www.racepages.com/products/?N...174+4294963357
