I am new to this forum, found it by serching for SL1 on google. I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have a 1994 SL! with about 225,000 on the clock. We recently have been having a problem with the electrical system. It will intermittently have no power, as if the battery is completely dead. No lights, no starting, the only thing we get is the door chime. then we will turn the key off, let it sit for a short period of time and the lights will come back on and it will start. It then works for a period of time, then you'll turn the key off and nothing again. We have checked and cleaned the grounds and checked the fuzes and all seem OK. My son things it could be in the ignition switch. any ideas? I have had this car for eight years and it has been a great car. Very reliable ut this has got us stumped. Edited by: sw2cam

the ignition switch is a good start...if the chimes still working then it seems like a possibility. electrical gremlins are the worst. does it have to sit to atart or can you just turn the key off and on again to get it to work?
