I just had a new clutch installed yesterday and now I literally have to use heavy force to get it to shift in all gears, except for reverse, which isn''t too hard. Is this normal?

I''m just wondering, because before I had it replaced, it shifted really smoothly and easily. They didn''t resurface the flywheel, but since it shifted easily before I had the new one put in, I don''t think that would have anything to do with this problem? Thanks for any help/advice in advance.

sounds like the clutch may not be totally dis-engaging like it should be. could be that they didnt bleed the system like they should have

The clutch hydrolics are a closed system and not menat to be bled. If you''re not getting enough pedal pressure, the system needs to be replaced.

Sorry guys, I''m confused here. If my pedal pressure and smoothness of shifting gears were fine before I had the clutch replaced (minus having flywheel resurfaced) then why would I need to use extreme force to shift gears now.

To give a better idea of the pressure is when I push my fist down on a standard body weight scale, It takes about 50 lbs of pressure to shift into gear now and even as much as 80 lbs when I first start out and try to shift into 1st gear.

For my pedal in this same manner, it takes about 20 lbs pressure (with foot of course, not fist) and the pressure starts about 3/5 down betweenthe pedalfully extended and the floor, then about 90 lbs pressure to push on floorboard to get it to fully disengage.

Because either the end of the hydrolic assembly is either not correctly attached to the transmission or the assembly was damaged during the installation of the new clutch.
