Is it normal to have a lot of hot air escaping from the oil fill hole when the engine is idling? This is a normal check of mine looking at used vehicles to check for blowby past the piston rings. Usually there is just a pulsating feel to the air coming out indicating just normal up and down piston movement. But this car had all positive pressure coming out.

 

I have had two Saturns (1994 and 1997) and BOTH had air blowing out the oil fill hole when idling. I am not sure if this is normal or not. My 1997, which I sold recently, had blowby when I got it. I replaced the head gasket and the valve guide seals and it eliminated the blowby. It originally had a bad head gasket and I just did the seals because it was apart already. Even so, it still had positive pressure after everything was done. Not sure if this helps, but it is more than you have thus far... [img]smileys/smiley2.gif[/img]

 

You''re darn tootin'' that helps. We had an L200 a few years ago, but I couldn''t remember how that one acted. So you can blow up a hot air balloon with these cars?

 

I bet it wouldn''t take long to blow up a hot air balloon. I held my hand over the top of it and it pretty much pushed my hand out of the way to let the air escape. Good luck with your balloon.....LOL! [img]smileys/smiley17.gif[/img]
