Default 1997 SC2 1.9L SOHC engine swap

I've searched on this and a couple other saturn forums and can't confirm if a 2000 SOHC can be made it work in my brother-in-laws 97 saturn. All the scrap yards say 96-97 only but GM is too cheap for this. They reuse everything for everything. My 06' Grand prix is no exception either. At any rate if anybody can point me in the correct direction it would be greatly appreciated. The cost for MPG is high now, soley because he's not just putting gas in it. I guess mainly if the 2000 engine's head is the same in SOHC i can put his intake manifold on it and be good. I know the bellhousing is the same but beyond that..... help!?
