1992 motor swap sohc

Is it possible to put a newer sohc in my 1992 SL1, seems like there are alot of 99-02 motors with low miles avalible at junk yards.Im worried about the newer motor bolting up to my trans. Also i dont know if my intake manifold will bolt to the newer head.Any help would be much apprecaited. Thanks Tom J.

I just put a 97 sohc engine into my 93 SL1 last month. It bolted right up. All the sohc engines use the same intake gasket so it would follow that all the sohc intakes would bolt on. My 93 intake bolted on the 97 engine with no problem. The only modification I had to make was drilling and tapping the head for a coolant sensor. On the drivers side of the 93 engine there were two sensors ( one is a sensor for the guage and the other is a temperature switch, I think) but on the 97 engine there was only one so I drilled and tapped where the second one needed to be. It all worked out great.
