1996 Saturn lost reverse
#18
Hi derf!
No i have not solved it, but I also have not seen the car for a couple of weeks. I bought a speed sensor which I have not yet installed, and a scanner which should allow me to monitor some if the workings of this car. I would like to try the speed sensor and measure some of the electrical functions, I.E. solenoid resistance etc. My friends have been sick with the flu and unable to bring the car over to me.
Hopefully next week.
Thanks for checking on me!

Still no good
I finally got to work on the no reverse Saturn. I changed the VSS speed sensor, no help. I checked the resistance of all the solenoids, all were 4.5 to 5 ohms, which is right in the nominal range. I bought a scanner which let me monitor the output of the VSS vehicle speed sensor, it reads correctly, 0 Km/h when the vehicle is at rest.
I guess I am at the end of the line with it.
I just wonder if the valve body I installed is defective.
Any more thoughts?
