2000 LS2 Rev Limiter?????
#1
I bought a used 2000 LS2 (V-6) some months back. The first time I took it out on the interstate, I almost caused a big wreck when I tried to pass an 18-wheeler. When I "matted" the accelerator, the car acted like it had a rev limiter. It would spit and sputter. I quickly found that the only way to accelerate the car at high speeds was to ease into the throttle.
Question 1: Does this car have rev limiter while in drive??
Question 2: Who is the MORON who came up with this idea. Probably Al Gore?
Question 3: Is there a way to disable this wonderful feature.

Yes like all newer cars it has a REV limiter. Rev limiter and speed limiter. That has nothing to do with a poor running engine and thats what your decribing. Have your car checked out if you don''''t know what to look for yourself. I''''ll give you a little hint, "most" shops have no idea what a SATURN L series is. Take it to your nearest SATURN store.Edited by: sw2cam

OK - I guess I am behind the times.
I own 5 vehicles and the only one with a rev limiter is the Saturn. The others are pre 2000. The car runs like a top, it just won''t let you go above 4K RPMs. Nomally thats no issue, but on the I-state, it can be dangerous. I guess I just don''t see the point in the rev limiter while in drive.
Also, I assume there is no way to diable it?
Thanks sw2cam.........

If it wont go past 4000rpm, then you have a sensor problem somewhere. 4000rpm is the neutral rev limiter, the in gear rev limiter should be at the RPM redline.
And all computer controlled vehices built in the past 20 years or so have rev limiters. Its to keep you from blowing up your engine.

Ok so your behind the times .... you still have a problem with the car, and it''s not because the factory set the rev limiter to low. As said while in drive the rev limiter will not let you go past the REDLINE on the TACH, and while in park it will not not you rev much past 4000 RPM''s on the TACH.
