I have a 2003 ION that I race. I am tring to over ride the factory rev limiter. It is set at 6500 and I want 8000 range. I tried a MSD box but that will not over ride the factory setting. Any help out there.

Thanks

What mods have you done to the engine to make it handle the increase RPM? On the factory engine, peak HP and torque come it at about the factory rpm redline. Anything over that and you're loosing power.

Other than the MSD I have not really done any other Mods. What my goal is in eliminating or changing the rev limiter is not having to shift. Because of the gearing I have to shift midway down the straight and then again down shift going into the corner. If I just could get another 1000 to 1500 rpm I would eliminate the shift.</font>

It is a stock class so really we can not do to much to the motor, the MSD box has to be well hidden. </font>

No tune for the 2.2 not in the Cobalt, not in the HHR, not in the ION, not in anything.

i have been checking in getting the jetchip installed. it is specifically made to upgrade you ecm or pcm for the upgrades you have done to the car and also specifically what you want the car to do. you can read more info about at jetchip.com. you end of taking the computer out and sending it to them for the ugrade its around $415 dollars thats including shipping. if you want it cheaper check out http://www.gravanatuning.com.

i have not done it to my car waiting to get back from deployment and do more upgrades until i send the computer for upgrades. a buddy had it done to his gmc sierra and you tell a difference. if you end up doing the upgrade let me know how it turns out for you

JetChip ......... does not work on the 2.2L ION. If you want to check on that go to all the SATURN forums and ask again.

If I recall I called them when I started this project. And was told at that time the 2.2 ecu could not be cracked. Not sure why but for some reason they can not do it on the ION. I have the power I need on the straights just need to shift now I just need to get it to turn better.
