Default 2000 LS v6 all guages dead

I have a 2000 LS V6. I have two separate problems. The first one is that the service wrench comes on intermitently. Then ALL guages are dead. At the same time the guages are dead, when I accelerate, the car either "smothers" or lunges. When it shifts from 1st to 2nd, it hits pretty hard. You have to "feather" the accelerator to get going. Once up to highway speed, no problem.

Second problem. When cranking the car, if I release the ignition too quickly and the car doesn't start, it will not start after that. If you let it set for a day or two, it might start vut once it misfires, it won't start.

I have had it at three different GM dealerships and they can't find anything wrong or can't repkicate the problem. On occasion, I have disconnected the battery overnight and the guages came back, but later went dead again.

Anyone else had these problems?

Sounds to me like you need to pull the cluster and check the connections. BUT, I'm not a mechanic. Have you tried just "bumping" the dash above the instrument cluster when this happens? If not, give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

Very first thing I would do is to inspect the battery cable for corrosion. Same with the terminals. If all is clean, and tight I'd uave the battery, and charging system LOAD tested.

The car demands much more from the battery and charging system when starting and accelerating.

I had a BCM problem on my LS2. Did some of the things you are talking about. I replaced it and all is well now.

never went on record before, but the BCMs on those L cars really sucked. We hardly ever get bcm related posts that don't involve L cars. S cars didn't get them till 3rd gen 2000. sedans 1999? L Vue Ion Prob all of them. But the L is plagued with BCM issues
