Default Stripped Auto Trans Fill Plug

Hi Guys.... my new to me 2003 ION with 165,000 on clock, got it's first fluid
change , the other day. Fluid was more black than red, so I hope this trannie can be saved. Anyways, the filler plug is so tight , it stripped trying to remove it. I have a set of extractors ordered to help remove plug.
My question is, does anyone know the size of the plug, because I would like to replace it with a regular hex plug, as mine has the internal drive allen hex.
Thanks,
Pete

I don't know the size, Pete, but once you get it out, you should be able to take it to your local auto parts store and get one with a hex head on it. They can measure it and fix you up.

Thanks Charlie...guess that is what I'll do.
I have seen different pics of fill plug design, on ION's and I think it was improved, sometime after the 2003 model.
Probably for reasons like mine, of stripped plugs.
I would imagine the 2007 model...the last ION was probably pretty well improved over the 03 model.

I never paid attention to it......if I'd have to guess it would be 14mm.
