Recall 14115, 14063, 14113
Just got the ion back from a Chevy dealership for these 3 recalls:
14115 - electric power steering
14063 - ignition switch
14113 - ignition cylinder
They gave me two keys, but wanted around $110 for a spare fob. I passed on that. Before taking it in I could hear a grinding at times when turning the wheel. They said it would only take one day, but it took two. This caused me to miss my appointment with the shop that sold me the car. They are still working with me to diagnose check engine light. Kind of upset about that, but they said it's not a problem and we are going to reschedule. The tranny specialist is not always there and we have to work around his schedule.

How long did your recalls take? I got into a fight with the people at my Chevy stealership. It's not very welcoming when I walk in there now. Haha

It took em two days. They said it would only take one. But, supposedly they had a problem with the ignition and had to reorder a part. The key still sticks every now and then. It never did before the recall which is weird. I'll probably take it back up there and let them look at it when I get time. It hasn't happened enough to be a big deal at the moment. I'm definitely going to look into getting a spare fob.

Then when the dude went to move my car, and popped the clutch 3 times, I told them they better be ready to replace my clutch. I flipped out on them. Haha

Will be making a trip to home depot this afternoon. I read somewhere that sometimes after the ignition recall that when people still have problems chevy would replace shifter because it is somehow is not shifting into park all the way. The key never stuck at all before I took it in for the recall. If they want $$$ i will walk away. As mentioned b4 its more of a minor nuisance that happens occaisionally than something I would spend to much time or money worrying about. But I would hope that it wouldn't get worse over time. No recall, but i saw that some people got shifter replaced for free. What does the powdered graphite do?

IF my car was not shifting all the way into park I would consider that more than a minor nuisance. I fail to see why a whole new shifter assembly would be needed; seems like a cable adjustment or interlock switch (if in play here) would be possible to address. But I know not the anatomy of an Ion; just speaking generally. I guess it's also possible that the shifter gets damaged if you drive it that way with the problem continually occurring. Dunno.
If the graphite doesn't help, don't tell them you tried it unless they ask the question, lest they claim you voided the warranty on the recall repair.
