Not sure what the issue is.

You posted a picture of what you think the part is.
The picture you posted matches the website I listed that sells the part.
Andy listed another source for the part (eBay).

The part is available IF that is the correct part.for your car.
You seem to know where it is located on the car.
Visually verify it is the correct part and that it is the source of the leak.

Order/install/done.

You seem hestitant.-- are we missing something? (not sarcastic)

Well not to be funny but like I posted before it's for a 2.4L. The part you posted in the links that you provided are not for a 2.4L. They are not interchangeable, if I can find one for a 2.4 L I will definitely order it.

Comes up as fitting the LSJ 2.0 S/C Redline motors AND the LE5 2.4 's
Part 029

I think there is just a lot of inconsistencies across the GM parts sites -- the most I've ever seen for an OEM Saturn part.

Might as well replace the bolt:
-----------------# 032, BOLT. Engine Oil Cooler.

Part Number: 11589236
This fits your 2006 Saturn Ion

BOLT,ENG OIL CLR(08.900)(SERVICE PART FOR 1ST DESIGN (OIL COOLED) ENGINES ONLY.).
-----------------
you can still buy those -- or steal the measurements and pick one up.
----------------
and#054 PIPE. Engine Oil Cooler.

Part Number: 12790785
This fits your 2006 Saturn Ion

PIPE,ENG OIL CLR INL(01.130)(PART NOT ILLUSTRATED. PART IS A SMALL METAL TUBE WITH O-RING SEAL ON ONE END- LOCATED INSIDE ENGINE BLOCK NEAR OIL COOLER ATTACHMENT.). PIPE,ENG OIL CLR INL(01.130).

Available all over ebay.
Looks like

For the record, here is what it fits
....

I think I read they did away with these in 2007 on the 2.4s. This looks like a one year part as listed here but not as listed elsewhere.

"YOU MAKE THE CALL"

(All I can do is scour the internet, learning more Saturn minutia with every passing parsec)

Thanks, yes they realized in 2007 that motor has no need for an oil cooler. I just got the same list of vehicles from an old GM guy yesterday. Now I'm on the hunt at junk yards in order to find one. My issue is it's leaking from the center of the cooler and because it's cast aluminum they can't weld it or patch it. Not really looking forward to do an engine swap might just have to deal with leaking oil.

OK.

It is 6:16 AM where I am. Been itemizing tax deductions.....many ...... The only thing I hate more is weeding.

Based on essentially a 21 hour day and counting.....

1) You have the same info as I do.
2) The part that you posted a picture of, the part that I posted a picture of, the part that Andy posted a picture of: They are one in the same and are an aftermarket match.
3) The picture of the part for sale is identical to the picture in the screenshot from the GM online parts store and the diagram,
4) The part is available for sale in new condition.

If you cannot afford the price of the new part, then tell us. Doesn't seem to be the case if you would consider an engine swap over a new cooler though.
If you don't WANT to put out the cash for a new part, then just say so. Of course that is the equivalent of having strangers find you a medium sized needle in a haystack, only to have you toss it over your shoulder and quietly walk away.
------------------------------
By all means, go out in a wet marshy field and lay under an Ion level whatever matches.
Then you can snag a nice internally corroded replacement (from the old coolant eating away at it sitting in the yard), install it on your ride, start er up, and watch it leak just like the one you have, only from a different spot.

There once was logic in this post
Happy to help--I'm one of the hosts!
Did some surfing to find you your part
Andy confirmed it's the right place to start
Hemming and hawing, dodging the facts
Crap from a graveyard or drop some greenbacks
Further assistance at this point is futile.
We just can't convince you to use your noodle
It's times like these that make me question
Should I stop overhelping as has been made, the suggestion
I truly enjoy helping others, sharing what little I know
I just slept 7 minutes couldn't figure where to go
So I'll end my contributions to this thread
As frankly, you're giving me Goalie head.
