I have a 05 saturn ion with 13,000 miles. (Manual Tranny) It idles fine 95% of the time, but every once in a while it may drop to 500RPM or go up to 1100 Rpms for no reason. Also when driving sometimes I can feel the car missing. Doesn't matter what speed I am going at. It has a 2.2Liter Ecotec motor. The check engine light came on a few days ago and stayed on for 1 day. I turned it off and on several times that day and it stayed on. I had it scanned yesterday when the light was off and he got code p0171. It is very difficult to drive sometimes. If anyone has any idea what to do please help. Thanks!

 

Yes it's under warranty................take it in.

 

It has a salvage title. I think that voids the warranty. It ran good after it got repaired for a while.

 

I have an appointment to see dealer oct 19. We'll see what they say.

 

I took it to the dealer they reprogrammed the MAF and cleared the codes. but it still has the same problems.


Here's a more technical explanation of what my car does, maybe it will help someone to better diagnose the problem.


Motor cold: Engine idles fine most of the time. (99.5% of time)


When you start driving it, it starts missing or has power surges really bad. I say or because it is missing sort of softly. (like it is getting some fuel but not enough for good combustion, or is firing to late)


Warm Motor: Engine still does missing thing but a lot less.


When I let of gas and put clutch in right away engine RPM's go up and then slowly come down to an idle. It only does this when it is warm.

 

Buy junkyard junk and you end up with junkyard junk.
