Thanks Derf.

The only diagram I found was the blow up view of the pedal, a Google search on an Ion clutch under images should find it. I see the bushing is North/South in the diagram so I'm going to check it tonight, make sure I have it the right way.

So I took the bushing out again tonight to make sure I had it aligned correctly and I do, the arms are North/South but I still have a slight bump in the pedal like the push rod is not connecting to the bushing completely.

My pedal is far better than before so for now it lives like this. Plus my plan is to sell the Ion so this is/was better than before. Plus if the bushing wears out again just replace it for another $8, cheap replacement IMHO.

Cheers!

Just a final note on this. My bump in the clutch us gone. I didn't do anything but use the car, must have connected at some point. Clutch is like new again.

Thanka all!!

I know this thread is six years old, but I'm glad I found it. Last year I replaced the transmission in my '04 Ion, and that also eventually included replacing the slave cylinder, hydraulic 'pipe', and master cylinder. That system is a b**ch to bleed! It worked well, but required pushing the clutch pedal to the floor to disengage and to change gears. The FSM (digital copy) that I have has no mention of the bushing, so this thread was news to me. I ordered a bushing from Amazon (a GM dealer) and it came today. I installed it (there was not a bushing in there, only the little nub that holds it in place once installed), and I now can shift without having to jam the pedal into the carpet!

A belated Thank You to you, Sperger!
