Default Clicking coming from shifter and car keeps going into limp mode

I've changed my battery, maf sensor, fuel filter, had alternator tested. My car keeps making a clicking noise from the shifter and car will nose dive then launches like it's going into limp mode off and on. No dash lights on. Sometimes it'll drive fine with no issues then all of a sudden it starts clicking every time it's in gear and I hit the break and going into limp mode. I'm lost on what is going on when it does run ok it shifts and runs fine. Car is a 2005 Saturn ion 2 with automatic transmission and 2.2 engine.

Hook a scanner up to it and see if any codes are stored or pending. They won't always throw a light immediately

Had a scan ran on it already only thing that popped up was a mass airflow sensor.

Hm. Try cleaning it with some electrical cleaner and wiping the throttle body out with some cleaner as well.
