2006 Ion transmission problems

Exclamation 2006 Ion transmission problems

Bought a 2006 ion and I’m getting a p0700 code and the transmission won’t go into overdrive It revs high won’t shift

You need to have the car scanned by someone with a better scanner not just a code reader. P0700 is a generic code indicating that there are codes in the transmission control module.

Yeah. I guess I’ll have to bring it to a shop.
we bought it for our daughter so she can to get to work we live in the country and she has travel to the city. I was hoping to fix it myself and save money. Kind of feels like a mistake now.

It may be something you can repair yourself, you just need to get the codes read. The basic OBD2 code readers only read emission related codes. There are better code readers that do more but they cost more. It may be cost effective to pay a repair shop to read all the codes.

Might be as simple as changing the fluid and filter to an internal issue. Follow Andys advice. He's the MAN!

Yeah. That’s what I’ll do. I’ll bring it to the shop and see what they say.

Or just 5 speed swap it. A lot less problems going manual
