Default 2006 ION Hood Latch Issue

Hi,
The hood on my car won't pop-up a little bit when releasing the hood from inside the car. A second person outside lifting the hood and it come right open. The latch is releasing, the hood's just not popping the little bit needed to get your fingers in there to go all the way. It is acting like some kind of spring is missing. Do the rubber anti-rattle pads in each corner play a role here?
Thanks for any and all advise.

The rubber hood bumpers (anti-rattle pads) are there to align the hood and dampen the vibration only. The spring on the latch itself needs to be adjusted

If all is working properly and the hood is not binding for what ever reason ........ lubricate/lubricate/lubricate. Seems simple to me.........but who am I to think it seems simple.

It was just a thought. If all seems to be working properly and the hood just doesn't pop.....lube seems to be the simple answer.
