19bonestock88's 04 Redline BUILD:finishing somebody else's project...

Just some more progress... I've got both front wheel bearings changed, as they were both terrible; the passenger side could barely turn once removed and it was rough... The car is quiet enough to have a civil conversation inside at freeway speeds... Previously, it required shouting at 35mph

It does have the CVT, which is exhibiting early symptoms of failure. I'm gonna just offload it while it still works at all and I can claim plausible deniability... There's a nice 2004 Ion-1 here in town which id love to trade it in on...
Nissan did use the Aisin AF33 in the Altima up to 2006 but that was the previous body style, not sure what chassis electronics would or wouldn't match up... The cars were also available with a six speed manual, but the conversion would require a fairly comprehensive rewiring of the engine side of the car, to accept the manual trans

As I've been using the redline as a daily driver at the moment, I figured I'd try and stretch the fuel it uses... First hypermiling tank so far is 29mpg... Keep in mind, I have no 5th gear, so she turns 2800RPM at 55mph

So I figured I’d necro-post this up because, well, I’ve lost my DANG MIND! With engine #2 fried, I’ve been contemplating the fate of my Redline... I’ve decided I’m going to fix her AGAIN! Now, any significant repair would exceed the book value of the car but I really couldn’t be bothered to care... my future bride-to-be wants to drive from our wedding in this car, so I’ll make it run again... the engine rebuild will cost around $2k in parts but I’ll have a fully forged engine with the rotating assembly rated for almost 1000whp and it should make 3-330whp with stock blower...
