Newbie Asks About Aura Power Locks 09
Hello, I just acquired an '09 Aura XR with the 4-cylinder engine. Nice car, but I'm working out a few glitches. The most annoying one for the moment is that on the driver's door, the power lock does not work when using the button, nor when using the key. It DOES work if the passenger door lock button is used. The original fob is missing, so I cannot say if the system responds to the fob or not. At the very least, I would expect the lock to respond to the key the way most GM cars of this era do - turn the key once, the driver's door unlocks. Turn twice, all doors unlock. Turn three times, the trunk lid opens. On this car, that's not happening. Can anyone offer a guess as to what's going on here? The button switch is not cheap, and given the lack of response to the key, I have to wonder if it's really the problem anyway. Thanks for any help!

Since lock and unlock use the same wires does the unlock function work from the switch? Does the unlock function on all doors work correctly from the passenger door? You report that the lock function works correctly from the passenger door.

Yes!
The lock/unlock function works correctly from all doors when the button on the passenger door is used. Neither lock nor unlock work at all from the driver's door. Thanks for an intelligent followup question that hadn't occurred to me.

That means that the body control module is getting the correct commands from the passenger door switch. This is good, I would look in the umbilical cord wiring between the drivers door and the “A” pillar for a broken wire or two. Very common failure in many brands of cars.
